My strategy is to use a base credit card with the highest rewards. Currently, that seems to be the Fidelity 529 College Card. Then, apply for cards that offer extra rewards in categories you spend a lot in e.g. the citibank platinum select for gas, groceries, and drugstore purchases, the discover restaurant card for dining, and Amazon credit card, especially if you have an Amazon Prime account

I pay off the full balance each month, so I'm not really tracking loan rates. I do check to see if the credit cards allow auto-payment for the full balance each month tho'. I never choose cards that don't give this option.

Hi Chao. You'll probably be interested in the rewards calculator at Credit Card Tune-Up: Discover the Best Credit Card Reward Deals (www.creditcardtuneup.com). That tool has you enter your categorical spending profile (how much you spend per month in various rewards categories) and it calculates what you'll earn from the various rewards credit cards per year. It also does a multi-card calculation to figure out the best 2-card combination, 3-card combination, etc. for your spending profile.
