L.
Ron Hubbard began the
Dianetics
book with a
chapter titled "The Scope of Dianetics" with one of the most famous
quotations of this book—one of my favorites:
"A science of mind is a goal which has engrossed thousands of
generations of Man. Armies, dynasties and whole civilizations have
perished for the lack of it. Rome went to dust for the want of it.
China swims in blood for the need of it. And down in the arsenal is
an atom bomb, its hopeful nose full-armed in ignorance of
it."
Dianetics
is just such a science of
the Mind, and with the June release, by
David Miscavige, of the new
editions of all basic
Dianetics &
Scientology books and
lectures, it has really come into its own.
And none too soon. The condition of our world is, if anything, far
worse than that of 1950. Because added to the threat of nuclear
annihilation, we have also managed in the intervening 57 years to
destroy our environment, wipe out countless species, and invent or
fail to contain (depending on whether you are a conspiracy theorist
or not) AIDS, which is causing a genocide in Third World
countries.
Anyone unwilling to simply stand by and watch this continue down at
the breakneck speed at which it is traveling would do well to read
Dianetics.
