Bankruptcy Paralegal Jobs
The main duty of a paralegal is to assist lawyers by performing certain duties which are equivalent to the duties performed by lawyers except a few, like settling the fees, providing legal advice, and representing clients in the courts. They conduct legal research to identify the appropriate laws, judicial decisions, legal articles, and other materials that are relevant to assigned cases. A Bankruptcy Paralegal may help attorneys with drafting of pleadings, preparation of schedules and statements. They also interview debtors; obtain information about their income; debts and assets; review the claims of creditors and verify their validity; and prepare documents for bankruptcy court and attend proceedings. An understanding of bankruptcy rules and procedures is a must for Bankruptcy Paralegals. Strong background with bankruptcy matters/policies (Chapter 7/11), and filing documents with courts (bankruptcy) is ideal. Knowledge of fee applications and electronic filing with bankruptcy courts may be required. These paralegals can also have knowledge of Concordance database; blue booking and cite-checking skills.
