What are vehicle tracking systems?

Vehicle tracking systems are electronic devices which can installed in a vehicle enabling the owner or a third party to track the vehicle or to view its position.

Neil Howard Telecoms’ modern vehicle tracking systems use Global Positioning System (GPS) modules for accurate location of the vehicle. These vehicle tracking systems can be customised for each individual, setting user privileges, customer site sand specific locations.

How can the information be viewed?

Vehicle tracking systems combine a communications component such as cellular or satellite transmitters to communicate the vehicle’s location to a remote user. Vehicle tracking systems allow vehicle information to be viewed on electronic maps via the Internet or specialised software.

I set up a Customer Site on one of your vehicle tracking systems, but when the vehicles visit this location, it does not use the name I entered.

Check if the vehicle visited the site location since you have set up this Customer Site. To do so, review the vehicle’s activity by replaying the day desired.



Also, it could be that the customer site overlaps with another, please check to ensure this is not the case. If you still encounter problems, please contact customer support.

I cannot find the street / location I am looking for.

Vehicle tracking systems can occur this problem with new roads within your area. Also try searching for the street name without the ‘street’ ‘road’ or ‘avenue’ etc.

My vehicle tracking systems show "lat/lon xyz - unknown location", why is this?

This can happen when your vehicle is either off the road, or on a new road. Contact customer support if you have any further problems.

How do I change the OnlineAVL settings for my computer?

From the OnlineAVL Client Application, select: “Parameters” > “Settings”.

• To modify your computer’s Event Type settings, tick/untick the selections of your choice.

• To change the vehicle tracking system settings, enter the password “exhaust” and change your settings as needed. We recommend that you do refer to the suggested reference settings that will best suit your computer and Internet connection types.

There is no trip/speed information on my vehicle tracking systems. Why is this?

Check that the unit (Halo Dome) or antennas (Halo Qube) have not been tampered with or covered. If this is not the case, contact Customer Support.

How can I reset my OnlineAVL password?

• From the OnlineAVL Configuration application Menu bar, select: “Security” > “Password”.

• Enter your existing password under the “Current Password” section.

• Enter your new password under the “New Password” section.

• Confirm your new password selection by entering it one more time under

• Confirm New”.

• Click “Ok”.
