History
I share my background with you because I
believe that it is what makes our service at Traditional Yacht
Sales unique among brokerages and charter services.
After years of running a successful, small trucking business, I made a lifestyle change and went sailing. Growing up in Trenton, NJ, I had always loved the water. I swam and dove competitively through my years at Rider College, but I didn't take up sailing until the late 80s. Within the first year, I was hooked. My wife Joyce and I traded in our home in the suburbs for an Island Packet 38. I spent a season working in a boat yard to learn the basics of boat construction, maintenance and repair. Then we headed out for ports unknown. Boy, were we green, but nothing teaches like the need to know. We cruised extensively on the ICW and in the Bahamas. It was a wonderful experience that changed our lives! When it was time to resume our working life, we settled in Deltaville, Virginia, in a cottage overlooking the beautiful Rappahannock River and opened the local sales office for a large Island Packet dealer. Over a ten-year period I sold and outfitted scores of new and used yachts, managed a charter business, and delivered boats up and down the coast from Long Island to the Virgin Islands. In 1999 I decided to return to running my own business and founded Traditional Yacht Sales.
I love sailing and enjoy working with sailors! In 1993 when I
double-handed my IP 29, Celtic Joy, from Cape May, NJ, to Kinsale,
Ireland, I fulfilled a personal dream. I look forward to sharing my
experience with you and helping your sailing dreams become reality.
Remember, life is short, go sailing today!
