The new Sony Ericsson Walkman Slider phones are really hot these days. Both W580i and W910i are selling at a rapid pace. Sony Ericsson already declared W580i as the most sold Sony Ericsson phone during third quarter of year 2007. I purchased this phone a month ago. So, let me tell you what this phone has and how this phone rocks the world.

This awesome phone comes up with a charger, battery, 512 MB memory card, a handsfree, software CD, phone usage guide, 3 sets of ear lobes for handsfree and the set itself. The phone has power button and memory card insertion place at the top. With volume control on the left and charger/handsfree slot on the right, the cell phone enjoys very small size and light weight. Now, I will tell you the functionality of this slide up phone by the menus it contains.

PlayNow: Phone has a PlayNow menu from which you can download games, themes, songs, ringtones etc if your network allows you. My network allows me to download the content for free but have to pay for the GPRS/EDGE charges.

Internet: From this menu, you can open up any site you want. You can turn images, videos, animations and sounds on and off while browsing. The set also has an auto-fit feature which fits the webpage according to your LCD screen. So you just have to scroll up and down instead of moving in all four directions on a webpage.

Entertainment: In entertainment menu, you will find sub-menus of Radio, Games, Track ID, Video Player, Video DJ, Photo DJ, Music DJ, Remote Control and Record Sound. In Radio you can listen to any frequency on FM Band. The most exciting thing in the games is that the phone has Sims 2. Isn’t it amazing for Sims fans? Excellent graphics of Sims 2 are there for you too. I have seen Track ID in any cell phone for the first time in my life. Play any song and turn Track ID application on, it will record for 5 seconds and after that it will give you the details of songs after searching whole World Wide Web. Isn’t it amazing to have the singer name, song name and album name of any song you don’t know? Video DJ, Music DJ and Photo DJ are all old things. You can edit your videos and photos using these applications and can also create your own tunes using Music DJ. Through Remote Control you can connect to your PC and can move your cursor or can change your songs through mobile phone. The best thing this helps me is in giving my presentations. I just press the right button from my mobile phone and it shows me next slide. Record sound is the same. So I think no need to tell you about it. However, the time limit for record sound is unlimited. You can record until your memory is completely eaten up.

Fitness: This menu is even new for those who only use Sony Ericsson phones. Here you can check how many distance you have traveled today. It will also tell you the steps you taken today and kilometers/miles you covered today. Moreover, you can start an exercise section in which phone will be in your pocket and at the end of a session, it will list your maximum speed, average speed, distance traveled and time taken in exercise session. The menu keeps record of every day distance covered in the phone memory and you can at the end of the month draw a graph of the distance traveled or steps taken or calories burnt versus days.

Messaging: Nothing has changed in this menu. You can compose messages here, read received and sent messages, can save messages or drafts and can also change your messaging settings. Nothing is new in here as compared to the old Sony Ericsson mobile phones.

Walkman: This time Sony Ericsson has launched Walkman menu with three different skins. However, the default skin is most dashing but I keep on changing every week for a change. You can arrange your songs on the basis of their albums, singers and can even create your own playlist. The Shake Control feature adds to the beauty of this menu. From the options, turn on the Shake Control option, hold Walkman button on your phone and shake your W580i. A random song will be played from your library. This helps me the most when I am unable to choose which song to listen right now!

File Manager: File manager has folders in it. Folders with name Camera Album, Music, Pictures, Videos, Themes, Web pages, Games, Applications, Fitness and Other are there. Any video or picture captured from phone’s camera will go to Camera Phone. You can store your photos, songs, videos, themes, web pages, games and applications here. Fitness folder has a single file which you can send to anyone else with a Sony Ericsson W580i to show him your daily stats calculated by Fitness menu as described above. The files whose format(s) are not compatible with your phone automatically move into ‘Others’ folder.

Contacts: The menu which can also be called Phone Book. This menu stores your contacts and let you call your contacts. Within Contacts menu, there is an option menu. From this menu, you can change your Phone Book settings according to you.

Camera: You must have to open your camera before capturing any picture or video. You can capture picture at any of VGA, 1 Mega Pixel and 2 Mega Pixel. The camera result is superb with not only good results at cell phone but also at your PC. The pictures look amazing at my PC’s screen too. The camera has a night mode which can be turned on and off, a self-timer which captures picture itself after some time, effects option to capture pictures at black and white or whatever else you want to give and shutter sound option to select which sound to play at the moment picture is captured.

Calls: In calls you can see different tabs for received, dialed and missed calls. This menu keeps the history of your calls but it isn’t unlimited. The thing I hate about Sony Ericsson is the Calls menu. Suppose a person called you yesterday and called you again today. Now I want to see today when he called me yesterday but Sony Ericsson will keep only the record of time he called today not the time he called yesterday. Sony Ericsson you really need to worry about this thing.

Organizer: This menu has sub-menus of Alarms, Applications, Calendar, Tasks, Notes, Synchronization, Timer, Stopwatch, Calculator and Code Memo. For the first time, you can set up to 5 alarms in a Sony Ericsson phone and you can now easily wake up with it. There’s nothing new that I found in remaining sub-menus. So I am not discussing them here as the article has already gone too long.

Settings: From phone settings, you can change time & date, language, profiles, ring volume, light effects, message alert, theme and wallpaper etc. The phone has a flight mode option. If this mode is turn on, you can enjoy all your phone features accept your network. This means no calls, SMS, MMS, GPRS and EDGE etc. Do you know what light effects are? How you could because it is a new feature. At the buttons, there are lights which glow. You can change the way these lights glow. There is also connectivity tab from where you can manage your internet profiles, can turn on/off your Bluetooth and everything else like in previous phones. But Sony Ericsson W580i doesn’t have any Infrared.

At the end, I will like to say that the phone is worth buying. The Shake Control, Superb LCD Display, Excellent Camera Result and its Style made me buy it. The things I miss in it is just the way calls menu work and also you don’t have any sleep clock in it. Means you can’t see time without pressing any key on your phone if your phone’s lights are off. But still I love its style and the

way it work. Buy your Sony Ericsson Walkman Slider Phone W580i today!

This time Apple has something really nice and human for us. The company has finally started working on ways to reduce volume with time in latest iPods to protect hearing sense of iPod listeners. Apple is working on a volume control device which will calculate the volume at which iPod is playing and how long the person is listening to it. Depending upon these two parameters, the new Apple volume control device will automatically reduce the sound level gradually just to protect user’s hearing.

Apple in the past released a free software update for iPod users to set a maximum volume limit after a case was filed against Apple in February 2006. The case was because of Apple’s iPod failure to take precautionary steps to prevent hearing loss among iPod listeners. Different warnings were also issued by researches and politicians on hearing loss hazards related to excessive use of MP3s.

Let’s wait for the Apple new release about this product as the company has decided to take such a nice and amazing step. The un-repaired hearing loss is a terrible thing for which all the MP3 manufacturers should take some immediate steps.

    A Mission on Asteroids

    December 24th, 2007

Can you believe if I say comets and asteroids have played a vital role in the Origin of Life? Find the truth by reading this article.

With this article you will learn at least something about Origin of life & Asteroids.

Life is tenacious and you can find life even under the deepest ocean. Astronauts by using a tether system which is devised by MIT could stroll across the surface of asteroids one day. With this technology astronauts will explore asteroids, performing many experiments to determine if the comets and asteroids from space contain any molecules for the Origin of the life.

Walking on an asteroid is not like walking in the earth, it is far more difficult due to very little gravity of Asteroids. Carr and Garrick-Bethell, say that this problem can be solved by tying a rope around the Asteroid attaching Astronauts. An asteroid’s gravity is not proportional, it varies depends on size and density. Even if the Asteroids have enough gravity it is still tough to move to collect anything.

The coolest thing in Asteroid is one can not touch anything without moving his body and spinning himself like a ring.

NASA’s next scheduled visits an Asteroid is DAWN spacecraft’s future rendezvous. DAWN has nothing to do with gravity; it will examine the Asteroids from the Orbit instead of its surfaces. This will help in exploring Asteroids easier than before. Studying asteroids can help Astrobiologists to determine the truth about the role of Comets & Asteroids in the Origin of Life.

    The Life in Mars

If life exists in earth, can life exist in mars? Scientists have done many researches on this topic to find an answer and the answer is here. The researchers of United States say, even though organic molecules found on rocks from Mars, they are not looking like the remnants of microbes at all. They say that it could have been produced with some geochemical processes. This clearly shows that in the future humans will have the powers in their hands to manufacture molecules needed for life.

The existence of hydrocarbons in that Red planet postulates that there must be life once existed in mars. Using a range of imaging techniques, a Martian meteorite discovered in the Antarctic in 1984, with volcanic rock. Those rocks contain small globules of carbonate minerals, which contain the organic molecules inside.

If we look at the research of NASA’s Astrobiologist, the abiotic production of organics and carbonates is something that could be part of rock. They mean that organic molecules found are earth is associated with other solar systems.

The most important results detecting life is it is not came from the biology experiments. Finally there is no trace of any organic compound on the Red Planet, the Mars.

So, how life created in Earth? You can get answers for this question just by searching on the internet. But do they have proof for this.

Now what is your answer, can life be found on other planets like mars? Or earth is the only planet with life. To find out you must wait till the research comes to an end.

An astronaut named Dan Tani from International space station offered a passionate tribute to his dead mother on 21st Jan 2007, two days after she passed away. Rose Tani, the mother of Dan Tani, died of injuries suffered when her car was struck by a train. She breath last at the age of 90.

Saying on the first public comment of her mother’s death, a statement distributed by NASA, Dan Tani said "My mother was a complete joy," He further added "Those who knew her will know that words cannot describe her vitality, generosity and warmth. She was my hero. We will all miss her dearly."

The tragedy marked the first time an American astronaut has experienced the loss of family member immediately he/she left for a space mission.

"Living on the space station means that I experience all aspects of life — be they joyous or tragic — while circling the Earth without a convenient way to return," said Tani. "Of course, I was aware of this situation before my mission, and I fully accept that I will proudly complete my mission and join my family when I return."

Tani expressed gratitude to his NASA co-workers and fellow astronauts for their support in this tough time.

Nicholas M. Ciarelli, who used to operate ‘Think Secret’, a website for Apple rumors was sued by Apple for publishing their trade secrets in January 2005. On Thursday (17-December-2007) through a brief statement on his site, Mr. Ciarelli said that he finally reached a settlement with Apple and he had decided to stop publishing Think Secret.

Mr. Ciarelli, a senior at Harvard, would not comment on whether Apple had paid him some money to persuade him to cease publishing. But he said he was pleased with the outcome of negotiations with Apple. In a telephone interview, he said “We’ve been able to reach a positive solution.”

Mr. Ciarelli filed a countermotion against Apple in March 2005 under a California provision that makes litigants vulnerable to financial damages if they sue over what is determined to be constitutionally protected speech. Mr. Ciarelli’s lawyer, Terry Gross, who represented him pro bono, said the motion could have resulted in a financially damaging and embarrassing ruling against Apple, a risk that he said led to this week’s settlement.

Mr. Ciarelli, a major in social studies, also writes and edits for The Harvard Crimson (the student newspaper). He was definitely a freshman when Apple sued him. Mr. Ciarelli said his agreement with Apple constituted a clear statement about the rights of online journalists i.e. “Speaking more broadly, I think online journalists can feel confident that they can assert their First Amendment rights, even when they run up against large corporations.”

None of Mr. Ciarelli’s sources were revealed as part of the settlement, said Steve Dowling, an Apple spokesman. He called the settlement “amicable” but noted that the details of the agreement were confidential.
