Full Description: Casa Colinita is a 2 year-old property recently remodeled to provide a high standard of luxury and convenience. The property is located in Tamarindo, seconds away from the town and beach by car - and less than a 10 minute walk.

The house is very private and surrounded by lush tropical foliage. Although very close to all that Tamarindo has to offer, no houses or lights are visible from the property, offering the ultimate in relaxation and rest.

Casa Colinita in Spanish means "house on a little hill". The house is three stories which places the second a third floors of the house at or above the jungle canopy. Our guests enjoy living in the famous Costa Rica canopy close to Howler Monkeys and numerous species of birds and butterflies. It truly has the feel of living in a huge tree house. Amazing and unusual birds frequent the tree surrounding the property and can be easily viewed from the decks.

Located in the rear of the property is a "rancho". These are common in Costa Rica and consist of a covered patio. The rancho has electricity, a fan, a gas barbeque and hammock. If you get a little hot, take a dip in the pool right next to the rancho. To provide security for my guests, there is a fence around the property. There is also a child gate to keep unattended children away from the pool area. A safe is provided for your valuables.

Inside the house, there is a large kitchen and living area downstairs, plus two bedrooms and a bath. Upstairs are 3 more bedrooms and another bath. There are 2 double beds, 4 twin beds, and 2 sofa sleepers. Outside you will find decks on both levels, with the deck on the upper level affording a view of the ocean.

Casa Colinita is located near the beach and town but far enough away from the noise and distractions to really enjoy your privacy and the tranquility of tropical location. However the house is only 4 minutes to the grocery store by foot and 7 minutes to the beach. The closest geographic landmark is the beach at the circle near Nogui's bar and restaurant. (happens to be my favorite)

Casa Colinita is loaded with amenities found in houses costing hundreds more. The top floor views are incredible and you can watch the amazing birds in the tree tops and the monkeys that frequent the property. Both Bathrooms have been completely remodeled. Enjoy the second floor shower with dual heads and an ocean view. The large wrap around decks afford wonderful outside living space and a great place to entertain.

The house has 3 Cable TVs and 2 DVD Players so bring your favorite DVDs. Take a short ride or walk to the grocery store to begin a barbeque in the charcoal barbeque provided. There are two full size beds in two of the bedrooms and 4 twin size beds in two other bedrooms. A futon in the 5th bedroom. Also, a pull out couch in the Living room. All of the beds have orthopedic mattresses and are new.

The house is Air Conditioned for your comfort.
The property is professionally managed by a local management company so no worries about maintenance if needed.

There is a small apartment also available for rent on the first floor. It consists of 2 rooms, a full bathroom, and a kitchen.

I call this "Mini Colinita: Mini Colinita is Air Conditioned.

About the Owner

Donald Balick is the President of Concord Agency, Inc. a Property and Casualty Independent Insurance Agency in Wilmington, DE. Concord Agency started in 1969 and Mr. Balick has been with the agency since 1976. My son, Daniel, is an avid surfer since he was 11 years old. Our first trip to Tamarindo was 6 years ago and we decided to buy a house after many happy return trips.

"For me, Tamarindo is a special place for many reasons. I enjoy all the different cultures that live and visit Tamarindo. I have met people from all over the world. Besides a great tourist destination, Tamarindo is a very friendly little town full of nice people. I love the trees and tropical plants that thrive in an around Casa Colinita. The monkeys are my special friends who love to eat my papayas. The birds always put on a great show as you observe them in their tree top habitats.

ABOUT TAMARINDO

Tamarindo is a small "surfing culture" town primarily inhabited by North Americans and Europeans. I have met people in Tamarindo from all over the world. The town is very tourist friendly and it is very easy to meet people in this town. In many ways, Tamarindo reminds me of the 60s. The atmosphere is very laid back and the only dress code in Tamarindo is no dress code. But don't be fooled, Tamarindo has attracted many excellent gourmet chefs and the food in the town is excellent and reasonable. Service is good but typically "tico" style (no rush for anything). Most people in the service business speak English.

Life usually starts early in Tamarindo and morning is my favorite time of the day. The mornings are usually very comfortable and breezy and a great time to jog, walk, ride bikes and other form of exercise. Have a leisurely breakfast at the house or at one of the beach restaurants. For a quick and large breakfast check out the Diria Hotel. Full Buffet for $10.

Afternoons are well spent at the pool or beach.
The pool temperature is very refreshing because it is shaded during the mornings. Sunsets are really incredible fromt the third floor deck and a good time to have your favorite beverage as the day winds down.
There are many evening activities in Tamarindo. Don't miss Bob Benjamin. Bob is an excellent musician (guitar and harmonica) and usually plays at the Tamarindo Vista Villas on Thursdays after sunset. Ladies night is Tuesday at Las Olas. Strolling around the town and shopping is fun. Internet cafes are open at night and most have high speed internet and are reasonably priced.

GETTING TO TAMARINDO

The quickest was to Tamarindo is to fly into Liberia International Airport and either rent a car, take a bus, or take a cab to Tamarindo. You may also fly into San Jose and take Sansa or Nature Air planes (about 40 minutes), drive or take a bus from San Jose (about 4 1/2 Hours) The cheapest way is to fly into San Jose and take a bus. About $10 for the bus to Tamarindo. We can help you with any of these arrangements.

There's lots to do around Tamarindo but I sometimes just doing nothing is really doing something.

I encourage people to call me personally at my toll free phone number to obtain details on the house. All of the furniture has been custom made for Casa Colinita and blends into the "rustica" design of the house.

I have installed reserve water tank to help insure my guests have water during the dry season.

Amenities: Air Conditioning, TV, Cable TV, CD Player, Full Kitchen, Microwave, Refrigerator, Cooking Utensils provided, Linens provided, Washer & Dryer, Private Pool, Bar B Que. An excellent choice for families with small children. I have installed a gate on the front porch area to prevent small children from having access to the pool. Also, the property is entirely fenced to prevent children from wandering about. The pool is about 4 feet deep so no problem with non swimmers as well.

This unique house and two cabinas is an incredible value for large groups that want to stay together on the same property but relish the privacy of separate quarters. It's a lot like having your own private "mini resort" The entire property is enclosed by a wall insuring privacy and security. This is also an ideal property for A CORPORATE RETREAT, a WEDDING PARTY, LARGE FAMILY GATHERINGS, or LARGE GROUPS OF FRIENDS.

Where else can you get three houses for the price of one in Tamarindo? The location is ideal near the beach and shopping but tucked away in a nice cul de sac. The property does have a holding tank of fresh water in the event the town shuts off water service.

**RECENT UPGRADES** I have added 10 nice bamboo chairs and tables for added seating on the decks around the property. The original bathroom in the main house has been completely redone.

Returned from Costa Rica in early May and added a 9 x 8 Canopy near the pool to provide needed shade.

I have designed a unique pool with a large bench in the pool for groups to enjoy a jacuzzi type tropical experience.

A short five minute walk to the beach and three minutes to the grocery store is ideal for surfers and beach lovers.

Casa Bosque in Spanish means Forest House which is a very accurate description of the grounds. Countless mature tropical foliage abounds the property. All three houses are air conditioned.

The cabinas have a studio type kitchen.

About the owner: Don Balick recently renovated Casa Colinita located about a block and a half away and is listed on vrbo.

Casa Colinita continues to receive rave reviews by the guests who have stayed on the property. Like Casa Colinita, Casa Bosque embraces "the Costa Rican experience" of a back to nature feeling surrounded by incredible birds, iguanas, butterflys, howler monkeys, and amazing tropical foilage. Casa Bosque already contains many unique and unusual tropical plants and trees which my guests will marvel at.

Besides the additional two cabinas on the property, the Casa Bosque property is very lush and you are right in the middle of the jungle while only a couple of minutes short walk to the Supermercado. Definitely, a very unique property and a special experience.

Previous guests have found Casa Colinita to be an excellent choice which is noted on the guest comments on the site. Guests for Casa Bosque can be assured that the same quality workmanship and attention to details will apply.

Why visit Tamarindo? Tamarindo has been known as primarily a surfing destination but is changing rapidly. Fine restaurants are popping up as well as upscale boutiques. There are several high speed internet cafes, phamacies, and lots of new and interesting shops. You do not need a car during your stay in Tamarido since everyhthing is within a 20 minute walk anywhere in town. It is easy to book activities such as sailing, canopy tours, fishing trips and other interesting activities to keep active during the day.
