The Ten
Short
Dharanis
The following ten dharanis are normally
recited in the Morning Recitation of Chinese Buddhism. These
mantras are recitable by anyone. A description of the mantra will
be provided at the beginning of each mantra. Note: all mantras are
mostly in Chinese pronunciation.
The Cintamani Cakra
Avalokitevara Mantra
(The Wish- Fulfilling
Wheel Mantra of Avalokitesvara)
People who recite this mantra, will attain
the wisdom the the Buddhas. One can then easily understand the
profound teachings of the Buddha. This mantra can turn the
sufferings into the Bodhi mind. If one recites this mantra with a
pure mind, when one is about to die, the Buddha Amitabha and
Bodhisattva Avalokitesvara will come and take you to the Western
Paradise of Buddha Amitabha.
Namah Ratnatrayaya Namo
Aryavalokitesvaraya Bodhisattvaya Mahasattvaya Mahakarunikaya
Tadyatha: Om tso- jie- ra- fa di- Chintamani mo-ho bo-den mi.
ru-ru-ru-ru. di- se tsa. re- ra- a-jie ri. sa-ya HONG! Om Padma

The Auspicious
Disaster Destroying Mantra
This mantra was taught to an assembly of gods
and goddesses by the Buddha. The Buddha said that if one can recite
this mantra 108 times, all disasters will dissappear and auspicious
conditions will follow.
Namo saman do. mu-to-nan.
a-bo-la-di. ho-do-se. so-lan-nan. Tadyatha: chie-chie. chie-shi
chie-shi. Hong hong. ru-wa-la ru-wa-la bo-la-ru-wa-la
bo-la-ru-wa-la. di-se-tsa di-se-tsa. se-tsi-li se-tsi-li. so-po-tsa
so-po-tsa san-di ja. sriye. Svaha!
The Precious Vituous
Mountain Dharani
Reciting this mantra once, is equal to
prostrating to great buddhas and prostrating to the doctrine 45,400
times. If those who are destined to go to hell recite this mantra,
they can be reborn in the Western Paradise of Amitabha.

The Buddha Mother
Cundi Mantra
Reciting this mantra can fulfill the wishes
of any person.
I take prostrate and
take refuge to Susiddhi.
With my head, I bow
to the Seven Cundis.
Today, I praise the
great Maha-cundi,
With compassion, may
you please bestow me your bleesing!
Namo sa-do-nan. samyak sam
buddha cundi nan. Tadyatha. Om jale jule cundi Svaha!
The Holy Inmesurable
Long Life Light Dharani
People who are destined to have short lives
can recite this mantra to increase the life span. One can also
quickly attain the great Bodhi mind.
Om Namo Bhagavate
Abharamita Ayuri a na. Supini. de-tsi-ta. de-tso-la-tsai-ye.
tathagataya, arhate samyak sam budhaya. Tadyatha. Om saribha
sanskri bali suta da-la-ma-di. ko-ko-nai. san-ma-wu-ko-di.
so-ba-wa. bi-shu-di. ma-ho-na-ye bari-wari Svaha!
The Medicine Buddha
Empowerment Mantra
This mantra is the mantra of the Medicine
Buddha. If one recites this mantra, one can eliminate the sickness
in the body and gain a long life. This mantra is in pure
Sanskrit.
Namo Bhagavate Bhaisajya
Guru Vaidurya. Prabha. Rajaya. Tathagataya. Arhate samyak
sambuddhaya. Tadyatha. Om Bhaisajye bhaisajye. Bhaisya. Samudgate.

The Divine Mantra of
Avalokitesvara
This mantra has the same purpose as the
Wish-fulfilling Mantra of Avalokitesvara.
Om Mani padme Hum!
Ma-ge-ni-ya-na. ji-tu-te-ba-da. ji-tu-se-na. we-da-ri-ge. sarwarta-
bu-ri-shi-ta-ge. na-bu-la-na. na-bu-li. dio-te-ban-na. na-ma-ru-ji.

The Repentance Mantra
of the Seven Buddhas
If one has made a great transgression or many
transgresion, he or she is suitable to recite this mantra.
Li-po-li-po-di.
cho-ho-cho-ho-di. do-lo-ni-di. ni-ho-la-di. pi-li-ni-di.
maha-chie-di. jen-ling-chien-di. Svaha!
The Pure-Land
Dharani
This dharani is the dharani of the Buddha
Amitabha. Thus, if one recites it, he or she can be reborn in the
Western Paradise of Amitabha.
Namo Amitabhaya.
Tathagataya. Tadyatha. Ami-ri-do-po-pi. ami-ri-do-shi-dan-po-pi.
ami-ri-do. pi-ja-lan-di. ami-ri-do. pi-ja-lando. chie-mi-ni.
chie-chie na. ji-do-ja-li. Svaha!
The Dharani of Sri
Devi
If one recites this mantra before mantra
recitation or repentance, one will not be distracted outside
conditions. One can also attain the Golden Light samadhi.

shri maha bi-ti ye. Tadyatha. bo-li-fu-lo-na. je-li-san-man-do.
