Sometimes
it’s frustrating when the boiled eggs crack while they’re boiling.
There is a way to prevent this. Here are a few steps to take to
boil eggs without cracking them.
Difficulty: Easy
- eggs
- water
- large saucepan
1
Step One
Fill a medium to large saucepan with cold
tap water.
2
Step Two
Place the eggs carefully from the
refrigerator to the saucepan of water and make sure there is enough
water to cover the eggs. Do not stack the eggs on top of each
other.
3
Step Three
Put the lid on the saucepan and let the
eggs sit in the cold water in the saucepan on the counter for about
30 minutes. This allows the eggs and the water to adjust to room
temperature at the same time, in preparation for the heat of the
burner.
4
Step Four
Place the saucepan on the burner with the
lid still on, and boil for ten minutes.
5
Step Five
Remove from heat and put the saucepan in
the sink and then turn the cold tap on so that it pours into the
saucepan and floods over the edges.
6
Step Six
Gently stir the water around the eggs
around with your hands so that the warm water gets cold from the
tap water.
7
Step Seven
Carefully place your one hand over all the
eggs to stop them from moving and pour out the warm water. Add more
cold tap water and mix with your hands. Do this a couple
times.
8
Step Eight
Carefully remove the chilled boiled eggs
from the saucepan one at a time and place them back into the egg
carton for safe keeping, and then put back in the fridge until you
are ready to use them.
- Keeping the lid on the saucepan while the eggs
are boiling prevents the eggs from bouncing around.
- This is the way to boil perfect eggs, great for
decorating at Easter or just for storing in the refrigerator until
you are ready to use them.
- Don't use the microwave to boil the eggs.
They don't boil, they explode.
