Chao is a reconstructed startup addict. He has been both a beneficiary and a victim of the last boom/bubble, having started numerous companies including ShoppingList and AdKnowledge (originally Click Over). In those murky days (ok, just 1996), he was asked by Vinod Khosla if they wanted to create a 'lifestyle' company or a 'real' company? He would answer differently now - he wants it both ways!
More recently, he led product management at the Open Source Applications Foundation. A lot of what you see on ClipClip today was inspired by the incredible folks at OSAF. How can we bring the open source culture and ethos to everyday activities?
Weiwen Li was co-founder and VP of Engineering at ShoppingList. Chao and the team tried hard to recruit her in ClickOver, but she said they were already too big! She and Ron built the first ShoppingList site in less than 3 months allowing them to raise over $5 MM a few weeks later.
Po Cheung worked with Chao at ClickOver/AdKnowledge and later a short stint at eBay. He's one of the best programmers Chao knows and built the ClickOver Ad Inventory system. He is deep into Java, J2EE and XML technologies.
Sachiko joined Clipclip in July 2006 and thinks is the best job she ever had. She did like all the other jobs she had such as dancer, flash developer, and production designer, but she's excited about Clipclip, loves the team, and also thinks nothing can beat the convenience of working from home. She is afraid that she will never be able to work in an office again.
