The Best Home Landscaping Advice for Summer
Summer is almost upon us and our gardens are needing our attention. It is very easy to feel quite overwhelmed with the amount of work to do to the garden and how you are going to fit it all in. So to help you with the never ending list of things to do on the garden, here’s a few pointers for how to prioritise the jobs.
Looking After Your Lawn
Spring is the best time to get out and work on your lawn. After the torture of winter (and lets face it this year has been a tough one!) your lawn is screaming out for your care and attention. As soon as the grass starts to grow this is your cue to get out there and give it the attention it needs to flourish. So here’s a run down of some important lawn care tips:
- Mowing: your lawn mower has been out of action for some time so make sure to give it a health check and a quick service before you get out there to cut the grass. Initially you need to set the mowing height quite high so you are not going to over stress the lawn.
- Apply Lawn Food: giving all the essential nutrients your lawn needs.
- Topdressing: if your lawn has become uneven
- Scarification: removing old, dead grass and moss that has accumulated.
- Dealing With Moss: If this is a problem on your lawn you need to get rid of it.
You may also need to consider re-turfing your lawn so that when summer finally arrives you will have a fresh and bright looking lawn. For more information about lawn care and garden turf, visit www.seerysgardenservices.co.uk.

Home Landscaping Ideas
Apart from your lawn, there are many other areas that require your maintenance. This can be an enjoyable process as you can breath new life into your garden. The kind of areas you can work on include; hedge trimming, adding a new fence boundary, removing overgrown planting and arrange a new area for plants and shrubs, renew your patio area with new paving and potted plants. There are so many jobs that can improve the appearence of your garden but from our experience, its best to tackle one thing at a time so you don’t get overloaded! Alternatively, you can hire a company to look after your garden for you, allowing you to concentrate on one area yourself. If you have an idea of the work you need help on, or you just fancy re-designing your garden then why not hire some home landscaping professionals to help you get your dream garden.
Hedging Plants
Hedging is a continuous line of shrubs or trees that blend together to form a boundary to provide privacy or protection. The type of hedging plants you require will depend on the level of privacy you require (determining the height of the hedge), or the conditions of your garden, (if it is typically windy, for example). There may need to be quite a few decisions made before you plant your hedging. For example, you need to first decide the structure of how you want your heding planted. This can be either an evergreen hedge, a formal (structured and defined) or an informal hedge (left to grow without direction). This can make a big difference to your garden layout and even help create a whole new look.
The most important thing to remember before you start work on your garden is to enjoy it! Happy gardening from Seerys Garden Services.
