NUDE BEACHES

A nude beach is a beach where the users generally wear no clothing. If clothing is optional then, to emphasize that, also the terms clothing-optional beach and free beach are used. It is one of the most common and traditional forms of public nudity. A nude beach should not be confused with a topfree beach or topless beach, where upper body clothing is not required for women or men, although a swimming costume covering the genitals is required for both men and women.

Berck sur Mer, France - Officially Recognised Nude Beach since 1981

Berck-Plage nude beach is located about 3km north of Berck-sur-Mer town. The beach is composed of wide expanses of fine white sand, backed by dunes and scrubland. The nudist area is at the northern end of the beach and clearly signposted, while the main beach has good facilities including a car park, restaurant/bar and a shop.

Berck was full of surprises. There was a huge gay nudist beach where we spent a relaxing day in the dunes. And in the evening, we found the Terminus Bar which presented a drag cabaret evening of very high quality. I really liked this place. - AGW, 2001

This beach is located in the northern district of Berck (hospital hיlio-marins), in the direction of Merlimont. From the road Berck/Merlimont (RD940) move towards the beaches north by the Avenue du Docteur Quettier (roundabout), or by the banks of Boulogne (red light and service station close to the fields of tulips and the aerodrome). Follow the tourist signs (with a blue bottom) "Plages", then "Nature Plage (nord)" by the English Channel. Park in the car park at "Le Terminus ". Continue on foot northwards, along the beach. While going directly towards the beach to the north of the rescue station, a sign fixed on a blockhouse warns of the start of the naturist zone. 200 meters after the blockhouses, the beach is authorized with naturism. PS: This limit is theoretical: the naturist zone starts starting from the building in the dunes, and finishes 1 km further on (the 2 following km are on the commune of Merlimont, and naturism is prohibited). PPS: The sign also says no photography and it's prohibited to go in the dunes (private property). - Club Naturiste du Westhoek Dunkerque
