I know that sometimes folks expect 100% perfection but that’s not realistic; however I will say you guys have been pretty darn close. Excellent hosting with excellent support. Now I have to jump on the affiliate program.

One of my top requirements when I chose a host provider was an easy-to-use script auto-installer that kept my site up-to-date with the latest security patches. Host Gator has selected Fantastico to fill that purpose. Prior to ordering I chatted with a Host Gator help line assistant online and I felt confident that the auto-installer requirement would be meet by Fantastico. So I signed up. Little did I realize that Host Gators choice of using Fantastico now is my biggest headache. Many of the scripts are 2 or 3 versions out-of-date (2 months worth of patches) and have critical security vulnerabilities which are widely known now. Yes, it is always possible to manually update the scripts on your own, which is a pain by the way. However when you are paying for a service that is suppose to do that for you, it defeats the purpose of choosing a provider with that service. Especially if one of the reasons you chose the provider was for a supposedly good auto-installer.

In conclusion, if you are using Drupal, PostNuke/Ziluka, ZenCart scripts, just to name a few, and want to easily keep them up-to-date without gaping security holes then I would avoid any provider with Fantastico. However, if your main concern is competitive pricing and are not concerned at all with auto-installation scripts then I would recommend Host Gator. I also did get quick responses to my support tickets, even though the answers where not what I wanted to hear.

There are some very bright people at hostgator, but I must say Nicole is flipping incredible. Great attitude quick, funny and a problem solver.

I was starting to lose confidence in a matter when I finally called and got Nicole she straightened it out and restored my confidence completely in 5 minutes.

Hostgator Review by Defiance - 2 Year Review

It’s been a little bit around 2 years since I last did a review on HostGator. Over these 2 years I have seen my site grow from the small site it once was to the big community it is now. I finally had to upgrade to a Dedicated Server to better suite my needs. This transfer took place in a little udner than 3 days. Everything had gone very smooth during the process.

Coty Beavers - Outstanding sales agent who recommended I sign up for the Dedicated server and walked me though various aspects of the process and setup. I appriciated it even more being able to speak directly with this rep on the phone and not waste time emailing support tickets back and forth.

Early on during the first two months I had some ocassional problems with e-mail being down and sometimes couldn’t access CP or my website. However, the HG team most likely threw a few sites off the shared server that were screwing things up and everything has been great for the past few months…. no down times, no need for tickets.

I switched from Yahoo to Hostgator after discovering it on the web last January 2007.

Anytime I run into a problem, the staff here responds to my tickets right away. They are very friendly and promt.

I run a online Tv network, using the Swamp Package, and I have to say what a great job hostgator has done here. Very fast server and zero downtime.

I use google to host all my videos, but it looks like hostgator works with everything and I have to just say, I hope Hostgator keeps up the good work and continues improving.

I thought I’d share my (literally) one-minute experience with HostGator.

About an hour ago, I purchased my Baby croc hosting account. Paid and received a payment confirmation. They said my account will be setup within a few minutes and that I’ll be notified by e-mail including my login information.

A few minutes later, I received a “welcome to HostGator family” e-mail, and that my account was setup successfully. The e-mail included my login information.

Logged on to my account (cPanel).

A minute later (while I was browsing my new account), I got a password popup box. I attempted to login several times but it did not work.

Since there is a wave of reviews at the moment, here is mine.

I joined on November 28, 2006 because my second host, Fasthosts Ltd, just got worse and worse. To give you an idea, it took many attempts to download a db backup from phpBB. Plenty of troubles, pages hardly loading, support kind but unhelpful.

So I searched on WHT and firstly I went to live chat for pre sales questions. Staff was very kind, friendly and honest. Transparency, that’s what FH missed. The decision was made within days. DNS updated very quickly (one day or so).

First i would like to apologise for my poor English it’s not so good but i will still like to write this review as it’s needed.

First I would like to say I’ve only been with hostgator for only few days 5 maybe.

But I already have my stamp.

They have one of the best prices and hosting offers. From what I have seen and talked to their online support.

Their online support is always open and reply fast and are very plait and client friendly. It only takes seconds and I have a reply.

Though I been through hell just to move my website and it’s not done yet! Their online support say one thing and the actually ticket support tell you another!

I have closed my website for more then 2 days in the weekend but I received a fare answer from their online support that they had problems with their transfer. No problem. So I cancelled my transfer until further notice

I have transferred all of my files myself, except for my DB which is very big (3gb) I decided that they should do it for me.

Having to fill different formalities , different tickets and forms. Hoping after a longs sleep it will be done. I open my computer today and to my great frustration I see that they reply me back telling me I should “reply back to my first ticket” while I have already been over this with the many online support who told me exactly what to do and I did so!
