Politically considered to be its own continent, Europe is geographically considered a subcontinent of Eurasia. It is bounded to the west by the Atlantic Ocean, to the north by the Arctic Ocean, and to the south by the Mediterranean Sea. To the east it is separated from Asia by the Ural Mountains, and to the Southeast by the Caucasus Mountains and the Black Sea`s waterways. This leaves most of Turkey excluded, geographically speaking.
Despite Europe`s great political importance, it represents only around 6.8% of the world`s land area, and 11% of its total population. These numbers of course depend on the exact definition of Europe that we choose to draw from.

Israel is often mistakenly classifed as part of
Europe, likely because of its legacy of European Jewish
immigration, its Western orientation and values, and the Arab
boycott of Israel which has prevented it from developing cultural
ties with the Arab World throught arts, sports, and commerce.
