've been on the road a lot this past month, including trips to Orlando, Barcelona, London, and Las Vegas.

Duringf that time I've met a lot of interesting people and have accumulated a whole bunch of relevant links:

eWeek just published a new article, Enomalism Helps Manage Virtual Machines. Read all about their viewpoint on this new web-based management tool for EC2 instances and images.
O'Reilly Radar just wrote about Jamglue Growth and Scaling. They spent just $1.50 per month on Amazon Web Services during development, then $15 per month in beta, rising to $600 per month in production.
Greg Linden wrote about Yahoo Pig, a parallel processing architecture which runs on top of Hadoop. Pig makes it possible for "regular developers" to take advantage of a large number of processors to analyze gigantic data sets. Given that Hadoop already runs on top of EC2 and S3, I suspect that it won't be long before we hear that Pig is running there as well.
Computerworld had some words to say about MySQL and S3, including a review of Mark Atwood's new MySQL storage engine for S3. Mark has recently posted his MySQL 2007 conference presentation.
Paul Bissett from WeoGeo has an interesting post about Building a Web 2.0 Mapping Solution. Paul runs the numbers, noting that their hardware budget was about $500K, which was reduced to around $20K with liberal application of EC2 and S3 resources.
Coolchaser is a MySpace profile editing and styling tool, powered by EC2 and S3. You can read more about this on their blog.
Blingee is another S3-powered MySpace tool, serving up hundreds of thousands of images per day.

ClipClip是一个提供在线收集和分享网页服务的网站。我前面介绍过一些保存网页的网站，不过试用过ClipClip之后，个人感觉ClipClip应该是保存网页服务方面做的最好的。ClipClip不仅可以保存文字，链接，甚是可以保存图片，操作也很简单，与一般的社会化网络书签使用方法相同。下面简单和大家分享一下我试用的一些感受。

简单注册之后，和其他社会化网络书签一样，你只要把一个保存按钮拖拽到浏览器的任务栏就可以开始使用ClipClip保存网页了，操作非常简单，只要你选中想保存的网页内容，然后点击保存按钮就可以保存，效果如上所示，你可以同时看到保存的网页和一个保存对话筐，在保存对话筐中，你可以输入tag,一些注释等，也可以设置保存是否私有。同时在Choose thunbnail你可以选择网页上的一个图片作为网页所略图，你也可以选择将网页直接保存到在ClipClip上自己加入的组群。

保存之后的网页，可以按照所略图显示（如上），也可以按照列表显示。点击所略图便可以显示保存的网页，保存的网页包含所有的链接和图片。效果可以看我的ClipClip收藏页面：http://www.clipclip.org/watsonxu

除了保存功能之外，ClipClip也提供不错的分享功能，你可以浏览别人公开保存的网页，也可以按照tag,保存人物等浏览别人保存的内容，点击任一个保存网页右侧的“Show Clip”就可以显示保存的网页内容。

此外，ClipClip还提供组群功能，因为保存网页时可以选择直接将网页发布到特定组群，因而使组群的使用更为方便。我在上面建立的一个组群：Web2.0Share

个人觉得ClipClip是一个非常不错的服务，我以后也会使用这个服务，不知道象ClipClip这种保存网页的服务能否取代社会化网络书签呢？

This is a content-clipping tool (beyond simple bookmarking) that allows you to select and save pieces from the websites you surf, like text, videos, photos, etc. It's very similar to the pioneer Clipmarks, but there are still some differences. For instance, with clipclip you can email to other people the clips you create. They will receive the actual content of your clip and furthermore: two links, one to the clipclip page where your clip is stored and one to the original website from where you created the clip.

Clipmarks, on the other hand, does not provide the feature of emailing the actual clip but just of emailing the clipmark's URL, so your friends will need to jump from the email message to the Clipmarks site in order to meet the clip content.

clipclip is very new, so it's very behind Clipmarks in terms of community and social interaction among clippers. Anyway, despite being an old Clipmarks member, I find the clipclip interface easy to use and elegant. It does not require any software installation (unlike Clipmarks extensions) but a simple bookmarklet. However, they need to improve the method to select the pieces from a website that you want to clip, since now it's a bit limited.

A little while ago, I got an email inviting me to go to a secret URL and try out an unreleased Web service, one that tries to apply Digg-style voting to search results. The site has now gone live, so I’m free to write about it, and I have to say it’s an interesting idea, but not one that I’m convinced will work — or at least not the way the company behind it, called Coolchaser Corp., intends it to work (Note: the site was down the last time I checked, due to what appear to be server problems).

The service from url.com (which I think is kind of a dumb name) takes the search results from Google, MSN and Yahoo and aggregates them and then displays them on a page. When you follow one of the links, you get a small toolbar at the bottom of the window with two buttons — one with a thumbs-up icon for “good result” and one with a thumbs-down icon for “not so good” — and you get a small text box in which you can enter a comment.

The idea is that as people rate search results, those with more votes flow to the top of the aggregated page of links, and users can see how many people thought a particular page was a good result, and any comments they may have made. It’s an appealing idea, and it’s obvious from the url blog that the founders believe people are naturally good and that they want to help. But do enough of them fit that description to make the service worthwhile? I’m not sure.

Even if there aren’t enough people who want to vote, however, url.com still makes a pretty good multi-engine search — and if it adds further value, then so much the better. One of the only downsides is that some websites run frame-blockers that remove the toolbar, and so you can’t vote on them. Coolchaser also runs a service called ClipClip.com, which is sort of like Clipmarks and other products that let you clip, store and share data as you surf the Web.

Ran across a gnarly little social bookmarking application today. Called ClipClip, it allows you to clip out pieces of web pages an post them in related threads about a particular subject. It saves HTML and images, as well as categories, and makes it quite easy to share a whole concept, as opposed to just linking to it.

For example, as you can see from previous posts and so forth, I’ve tried to get across the technology available in Scientology on the Scientology Handbook website. Now, I can add links to pages I think are useful, but still - it’s a bit clumsy if you - the browser, have to wade through all my links and so forth.

However, just try going to ClipClip an typing, “Get Help” in the box of actions to do. It will pull up a whole sequence of links I put together on the subject, which makes it easy to use these web resources to actually do something.

Just one more way one could use social bookmarking tools to help communicate on a topic - especially one which should be communicated about.

5) - ClipClip: This is an incredible service that allows you to highlight whole pieces of websites that you want to share with others - which you can then group into “activities”. For example, let’s say you wanted to “get help” or “find out about scientology“, you can create whole sections of web pages that forward that activity or answer that question. Very useful for the researcher.

收到了John的Email询问是否愿意参加一个新的网络服务的内测，当然欣然接受，本来以为只是普通的web2.0而已，却没想到这个服务现在成了我最主要的网络工具。

URL.com - a whole new way of searching，开发自clipclip。它极好的开发了搜索引擎的社会性，通过用户对搜索引擎的评价，以及对搜索结果的评论，来方便用户更快更好的寻找到所期望的结果。

URL.com根据用户输入的关键词，列出三个主要的搜索引擎MSN, Yahoo和Google的结果，并且在右侧显示每条结果的得分，此得分由搜索结果在各自搜索引擎中的排名以及用户对搜索引擎的评价做出加权而来。同时URL.com像Google一样对注册用户做出评价的搜索记录进行保存，也可以查看其它用户的搜索记录。下图为搜索“url.com”时排列第一位的搜索结果，用户评论为ajax方式展开。

点评：搜索引擎是我平日里利用最多的网络服务，但往往按次序查看了十几条结果，却找不到自己想要的答案。利用URL.com所收集的用户对搜索结果的评价和评论，将极大加快我们在搜索同样关键词时的效率。现在处于内测期，对搜索结果的排列还有些不尽人意，但如果公开后，无数用户的参与评价将会使其完善，使我们搜索更加容易。

不过如果我们想找的答案不在这10*3个搜索结果中呢？开始我只是想如果能够增加搜索结果数量就好了，但其实这应该由用户自己负责。也就是需要用户自己搭配关键词来找到所期望的搜索结果，而不是一味地从更多的结果中挑选，那样就失去使用了URL.com的意义。

Es ist ja allgemein bekannt, dass manche Homepage kurzlebiger ist, als so mancher One Night Stand. Da hilft natürlich auch das Bookmarken nichts.

Aufmerksame Leser werden sich an den Toread Artikel erinnern, welche schon einen Lösungsansatz für dieses Problem bietet. Nun habe ich eine neue Seite entdeckt, welche sich einfach als Bookmarklet im Firefox integrieren lässt.

Einfach den interessanten Teil markieren und das Bookmarklet anklicken, schon wird der wird das Ganze auf clipclip.org gespeichert. Vorher muss man sich natürlich ganz nach Web2.0 Tags aussuchen.

Das Ergebnis sind, dann durch Tags identifizierbare "Informationshappen", welche sich von überall aus abrufen lassen!

Angesicht dieser Entwicklungen (Datenhaltung im Web), frage ich mich ob die Computer der übernächsten Generation überhaupt noch Festplatten haben werden..

Con toda la información a que tenemos acceso por la red, muchas veces resulta imposible recordar dónde vimos aquella imagen o aquel texto que en un momento dado nos vuelve a hacer falta.

ClipClip es un servicio gratuito utilísimo que nos ayudará a organizar toda la información online que nos interese.
El sistema es sencillo: nos damos de alta, y nos hacemos un bookmarklet en forma de favorito. Una vez vemos un texto o imagen que nos interesa, lo seleccionamos, hacemos click en el bookmarklet y automáticamente se guardará en nuestro ClipClip una copia de esa información junto con un enlace al original.

Para hacer más fácil encontrar los archivos, podemos clasificar los clips mediante etiquetas.

At the heart and soul of Web 2.0 is one magical “I” that I have always used in Chrono Tron - Innovation. Yet, if one particular idea becomes quite popular in the web, be it 2.0 or 1.0, the idea is ripped off and a million other people just replicate it for the sake of emulating the original success. (Think Milliondollarhomepage) In some cases, this is quite useful as the new sites have the enhanced features of the original service but most of the time, this is blatant ripping and just crowding of the world wide web. Web 2.0 has a lot of popular ideas - Social Bookmarking, Social Networking, Photo Sharing, Memes, etc. Here check out the list of services in the popular categories alone. While I will not call them all clones or replicas, basically they may have built on the idea of the first site to develop that concept, but when something is a plain-clone, I will point it out. If there is nothing different about a particular service, then you will find no comment next to it. This is in the order of my favorites as well as the overall bests.

Veamos: Vais navegando con vuestro Firefox entre diferentes sites y váis guardando las imagenes y textos más interesantes, sin necesidad de guardar todas las páginas, apretando a un botoncillo de vuestra barra de navegación.

La idea ya la vimos hace unos meses en ClipMarks , ClipClip nos ofrece también visualizar los "favoritos" de nuestro grupo de amigos, ya que todo lo que guardéis puede ser compartido.

Clip clip es un servicio de almacenamiento de la parte que nos interesa de una web. Para ello deberemos de instalar un bookmarklet en la barra de vínculos, navegar por los contenidos que deseemos y si vemos algo interesante, señalamos todo el contenido que nos interese, presionaremos el botón de clip clip y nos capturará la imagen de la web de la zona marcada para añadirlo a nuestra cuenta y poder revisarlo más tarde. Para añadirlos basta con darle un nombre y una serie de etiquetas.

Tambien podemos añadir contactos a nuestra red en clipclip con lo que así no sólo podremos revisar los clips neustros bajo determinadas etiquetas sino que tambien podremos ver los de nuestros contactos.
