NTUC Healthcare rolls out plans for moms-to-be, children and elderly

Labour Movement 2011, NTUC's five-year plan, wants to involve everyone here.

And all of NTUC's nine co-operatives are coming up with new initiatives to offer Singaporeans of all ages.

The labour movement is also looking into offering junior membership.

One of NTUC's cooperatives is in talks with a restructured hospital to offer an ante-natal shared care programme.

It plans to roll out this programme in a couple months.

Christopher Tay, CEO of NTUC Healthcare Co-operative said: "In this collaboration, what we do is to have the best of both worlds, where the patient can visit our clinics as well as the restructured hospital's clinics.

"In that sense, we allow them to have tests done at either place and the price that we're giving is slightly above $700, which benefits the patients a lot."

A junior membership is also in the works to target the young, especially children up to 12 years of age.

This will entitle them to enjoy nearly the same benefits that adult members currently enjoy at NTUC cooperatives and its partners.

"By coming on board, they’ll understand and support this initiative from a very young age. And by doing so, they would understand what the labour movement is all about," said Tay.

"It's not just a game plan for the elderly but for younger people like them as well. They can start young and of course along with it, there are many other benefits. It’s not just about participation but also involvement," he added.

The elderly are also not forgotten.

NTUC Healthcare is working with NTUC Eldercare and the government to provide daycare facilities for them.

And Singaporeans can look forward to more job opportunities with the setting up of this new service.
