This is something that really fascinates me. I remember back when I was in the eight grade doing an expirement where we took an electrical charge with a positive and a negative and put it in water with a test tube attached to each lead. Since water is H2O (that is two parts Hydrogen and one part Oxygen). Now anyone with basic chemistry knows that Hydrogen is highly flammable or explosive, while Oxygen is not flammable, but is the oxidation that fire needs to burn. I believe that the simple answer is this: In the past gasoline or diesel was the way to go, so it still is they way to go. Look at what they have to lose. Can you imagine taking your family on vacation and only having to stop a few times and put a gallon of water in your car?
